Whether you are planning a sunrise hike to Bear Lake, a scenic drive along Trail Ridge Road, or a ranger-led program, the park offers something for every season and every pace.

Fishing the Big Thompson River

The Big Thompson River runs directly through the Rustic River Cabins property, putting some of the best fly fishing in northern Colorado right at your doorstep. The river is well known for its brown and rainbow trout, and you can fish throughout the canyon and inside Rocky Mountain National Park. Whether you are an experienced angler or just casting a line for the first time, the river is a highlight of any stay at Bears Paw.

Downtown Estes Park

Just four miles down the road, downtown Estes Park is packed with shops, restaurants, galleries, and local charm. Stroll along Elkhorn Avenue, grab breakfast at a local cafe, or visit the famous Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining. The town is also home to seasonal festivals and events throughout the year, including Elk Fest in October and the Estes Park Wool Market in June.

Does Bears Paw have a hot tub?

Yes. Bears Paw has a Private Hot Springs® hot tub located on the front deck, enclosed with cedar fencing for complete privacy. The hot tub is exclusive to this cabin and is not shared with other guests on the property.

Does Bears Paw have a fireplace?

No. Please note that Bears Paw no longer has a wood-burning fireplace. If a fireplace is important to your stay, please take a look at our other available cabins.

Bears Paw is located in Drake, Colorado, approximately four miles from the Estes Park entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The drive into the park takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic.

Downtown Estes Park is approximately four miles from the cabin, about a 10-minute drive down the Big Thompson Canyon. You will have easy access to restaurants, shops, the Stanley Hotel, and all Estes Park attractions.

What is included in the kitchen?

The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, microwave, hot plate, waffle maker and a convection oven large enough for a frozen pizza. Complimentary coffee is also provided. For full meal preparation, we recommend stocking up in Estes Park or Loveland before your arrival.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:00 AM. If you have specific timing needs, please call us directly at (970) 586-8493, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Is smoking allowed at Bears Paw?

Smoking is allowed outside only, per Colorado state law. Outdoor ashtrays are provided on the deck. Smoking of any kind inside the cabin is strictly prohibited.
